Vanlife 2024

4 novembra, 2024 |

V dobrih dveh mesecih sem naredil 8400 km skozi Italijo, Francijo, Španijo, Portugalsko in Gibraltar (UK).

Veliko sonca in malo dežja, veliko harmonike in kitare, malo novic o bivanju doma. Borbanje in precenitev sposobnosti surfanja na dvo-nekaj metrskih valovih, “čilanje” na deski ob opazovanju sončnega zahoda, kuhinja in spalnica z razgledom, testnine v vseh možnih oblikah več dni zapored, spoznavanje novih ljudi, kulture, družbanih iger, redno pisanje dnevnika, bolečine v križu in vratu. Skratka veliko dobrega, nekaj slabega, noro kul izkušnja, za katero sem hvaležen vsem, ki so mi jo omogočili in upam, da jo še kdaj ponovim.

Meni ljuba statistika:

  • dolžina poti: 8385 km,
  • povprečna poraba kemperja: 9,3 l/100km,
  • okviren strošek potovanja: 3500€.

At the end of August, I traded the comfort of a two-bedroom apartment for a mini camper on wheels, which became my home for two months. The furthest destinations on my journey were the town of Tarifa in southern Spain and Sagres in southern Portugal. Over the course of just over two months, I covered 8,400 km, traveling through Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and Gibraltar (UK). Most of the cities I visited and the route I took are marked on the map below. I spent the majority of my time outside campsites, opting for the great outdoors, which offered the most stunning views, direct proximity to the ocean, and waking up to the sound of crashing waves. Self-sufficiency was ensured with the help of solar panels, an extra battery, and a 100-liter water tank. I found most of my sleeping spots using the Park4night app, a must-have for every camper enthusiast.

When I think about this road trip, I think of: 62 Days of Escaping Reality: Life on 19m² with Limited Resources, A lot of sunshine, a little rain; plenty of accordion and guitar music, but few updates from home. There were battles and overestimations of my surfing abilities on two-meter-plus waves, “chilling” on the board while watching the sunset, a kitchen and bedroom with a view, and pasta in every possible form many days in a row. I met new people, discovered new cultures, and learned tons of new board games, Everyday Writing of a Personal Diary, lower back and neck pain. All in all, it was mostly good, a little bad, but an insanely cool experience that I am grateful for. I hope I get the chance to do it again someday.

Some stats:

  • Distance traveled: 8,385 km
  • Average camper van fuel consumption: 9.3 L/100 km
  • Approximate travel cost: €3,500.
